AGC Project Spotlight
Linbeck Zachry Joint Venture
Tobin Center for the Performing Arts
The Project consisted of the complete renovation of the historic Municipal Auditorium’s treasured façade while incorporating a new 183,000 square foot, six story, 1,700 seat, multi purpose performance arts hall into its framework.
The Municipal Auditorium was originally constructed in the late 1920’s and was dedicated to World War 1 veterans. The north side of the project is adjacent to the of the San Antonio River Walk and contains a plaza where Medal of Honor recipients who had an association with San Antonio are honored.
Unique aspects of the project include:
The challenges of building a brand new state of the art Performance Hall inside a historical structure on the San Antonio River, a movable floor system which is the first of its kind in North America, and the unique finishes and acoustic requirements in the project.
