Community Service Every spring the chapter's Race for the Cure team is one of the top eight fund-raising groups in the city. Proceeds benefit breast cancer research and education. Additionally, AGC companies friends come together to donate time, labor, and materials to a worthwhile project. Community service projects in the past have benefited Junior Achievement, Any Baby Can, and the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department. The chapter received a statewide award from the Texas Recreation and Park Society for its parks work. Also, members have made substantial contributions to schools and the annual Construct-A-Kids Christmas toy drive. Education Programs Nationally, AGC is renowned for the annual convention, and the Advanced Management Program. Locally, our chapter produces dozens of informative seminars on such topics as BIM, contingency payment, and project management. Government Relations AGC has earned the reputation as the credible "go to" group when it comes to speaking for the construction industry. When local, state, and federal authorities want to know what the industry thinks about a relevant government issue, they call AGC first. With thousands of supplier, subcontracting, and general contracting firms across the country, who is better qualified to speak for the hard working men and women in the industry than AGC? Jobsite Safety Our chapter is a nationally recognized leader in safety training and jobsite inspections. We also promote worker safety through an awards program and the annual Safety Fair and Barbecue Cook-Off. Market and Business Development We maintain a comprehensive program that promotes and exposes AGC firms to their targeted markets. Activities include media relations, strategic planning, and external public relations. Networking San Antonio AGC is where the industry gets together. Suppliers, service providers, specialty contractors, and general contractors enjoy mingling at mixers, golf tournaments, and general membership meetings. Plan Room Services Members benefit from a customer-friendly plan room providing accurate and up-to-date information on South Texas construction projects.
